Books I want to reread to see if I still enjoy them as much as I did the first time around

Wow, the title of this blog post is… long. Anyhow, I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. There are some favs of 2014-2016, from which I wonder if I would still like them as much as I did when I first read them. So, in this blog post I’ll be showing you the books I’d like to reread and review again! I hope to reread these in 2021.

Just One Day – Gayle Forman

This was the book that made me fall in love with reading and made me start my bookstagram! I’m really excited to see whether I still love this one as much as I did in 2016.

2016 rating:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Divergent – Veronica Roth

I was a huge fan of the Divergent movies, so I decided to read the trilogy as well in 2016. I really did enjoy the books, maybe even a bit more than the movies!

2015 rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Everything Everything – Nicola Yoon

I finished this book in one sitting in 2016 and I remember really loving this book. However, I’m not so sure whether I would still love this one as much as I did back them.

2016 rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The Fault in Our Stars – John Green

One of the first YA books I’ve ever read, if I’m right. I read this one in 2014 and loved loved loved it. Will I still love it as much in 2021? Not sure.

2014 rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

All the Bright Places – Jennifer Niven

In 2016, I read this book for a school project and found it to be absolutely beautiful and so moving. In the meantime, I’ve read quite some reviews about this book saying that it contains some toxic elements. In 2016, when I was 15, I wasn’t really a critical reader, so I naturally gave it a high rating. I’m curious to know whether I’d still give it a high rating now.

2016 rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

As you all can see, I wasn’t afraid to throw around 5 star ratings in the period between 2014-2016, oops. I hope to reread these books in 2021. If I do, I’ll definitely make a blog post with my new ratings and opinions on them!

  1. I haven’t read any book by Gayle forman, but now that you have included it in a list with soo many of my fav books, I guess I should give it a go. And divergent used to be my all time fav!! But I don’t like it as much now. But nostalgia always makes me give it a 5 stars. Haha. Great post!!

  3. Quite agree with the John Green books, I remember reading Looking for Alaska and Papertowns just because of the hype during that time but looking back I don’t think I would’ve liked any of them. Turtles All the Way Down is the better read for me.

  4. This sounds like so much fun Joy, I remember reading and loving some of these! Super excited to read your thoughts on them. I’m planning on trying this too because I know there’s some books that haven’t gotten a reread in years and I’d like to see if my opinions are still the same. 😂💕
