Looking back on my May 2020 book haul

From February until May 2020 I tracked my book hauls on my blog (after that it became too awkward to mention me buying 3583993 books each month). From February until May 2021 I will look back on my book hauls from last year and reflect on whether I read the books I bought or not. Today, my last throw back post!

The Fault In Our Stars – John Green

I actually already owned two copies of this book, but in Dutch. After watching the movie again, I really wanted to reread this book but in English, so I bought a second hand English copy!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Hard Hart – Ish Ait Hamou

This is a Dutch book by one of my favorite Dutch authors. This was a rather short book, so I flew through it. The story was very interesting.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Jane Austen book collection

In May 2020, I bought this beautiful second hand Jane Austen book collection. This collection included the following Jane Austen books: Emma, Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Persuasion, Northanger Abbey and Mansfield Park. Sadly, I haven’t read any of them, oops.

Sleeping Giants – Sylvain Neuvel

I immediately started reading this book when it came into my mailbox, however it didn’t really catch my attention and I ended up DNF’ing it and unhauling it.

The Happiness Project – Gretchen Rubin

Currently reading

As this book is divided into a chapter a month, I am currently reading this book throughout the year. If everything goes well, I’m now reading the May chapter.

A Woman is No Man – Etaf Rum

Impulsively bought this one for a book club I wanted to join, but ended up not joining the book club and not reading this book.

A Little Life – Hanya Yanagihara

Believe me when I tell you that I have tried starting this book several times. Its size just keeps intimidating me. I should really try again soon, as so much people absolutely loved this one.

The One New Thing – Jos Pierce

I love reading Jos Pierce’s books so I immediately started reading this one when it was published. Pierce’s books are fairly short, so I finished this one very quickly!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The Best Kept Secret – Jos Pierce

This is the sequel to The One New Thing. Luckily, I have already read this one!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The Bromance Book Club – Lyssa Kay Adams

This was such a fun book to read! I wanted to read the second book in this series immediately after finishing this one, but oh well.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Undercover Bromance – Lyssa Kay Adams

This is the second book in The Bromance Book Club series. I hope to read this one in 2021 and also read the third book in this series!

The Last Letter – Rebecca Yarros

This book made me so so emotional! It was a long read, but I flew through it.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

An Absolutely Remarkable Thing – Hank Green

Manon is a really big fan of this book, so when the ebook of this one was on sale, I decided to buy it! However, I still haven’t read it. Surprise, surprise.

The Lucky Ones – Liz Lawson

The ebook of The Lucky Ones was on sale and I impulsively bought it. Sadly, I still haven’t read it 😦

I read 31% of the books I bought in May. Oops, that’s really sad. This probably explains why I’ve changed my book buying behavior!

  1. A Little Life is really intimidating to me too! Especially because of how sad I’ve heard it is 😳
